In many real-time desktop computing markets including Test Labs, Computer Designer Centers, Financial Traders and Command & Control Centers, users often need to access all their different computing resources from the desk, across a standard IP network without the need for a desktop computer while retaining a high quality user experience.

In an ideal solution the desktop administrator would have one solution that is acceptable to all different types of desktop users including the desktop PC users and high end workstation users, while giving all the benefits of a back racked model.

To achieve this, the administrator would replace each desktop computer with a zero client and consolidate all of the computing resources into a back room environment.
The solution would then allow the desktop administrator to provision any type of computing resource to any desk based on user login and admin profiles. This would allow any user to login at any desk and get access to the computer that is available to them in the back room.

The Avocent Desktop Over IP Solution provides the ideal Zero Client solution for all of the different types of computer users and provides the benefits of a back racked computing model to the desktop administrator.
The Desktop Over IP Solution is based on standard TCP/IP and provides the user with access to their remote computer with a rich desktop experience including:

  • High Quality DVI Video at resolutions up to 1920 x 1200
  • Full USB 2.0 support for any USB peripherals
  • CD Quality Stereo Audio

The Desktop Over IP solution is based around three components which capture the interfaces of the computer, making them available to the user and manage the connecting of computer to user.
